Caring for Citrus Plants

You may well have received a citrus plant as a present at Christmas or the New Year. We share our knowledge on how best to look after these attractive plants that will bear fruit if provided with ideal environment.

To avoid disappointment make sure that your plant is a named cultivar from a reliable retailer. Remember that plants grown from pips will not flower, you need a grafted plant for successful fruiting.

Hydrangea Care Guide

Hydrangeas are a popular garden shrub due in no small part to the fantastic range of colours they produce on large flowerheads and their hardiness in British conditions.  Being deciduous, hydrangeas also put on a good show of colour in their autumn foliage. While older hydrangeas can reach 20ft (6m) in height and spread, most varieties now sold in garden centres will be restricted to 3-5ft  (1-1.5m).

Royal Sutton Coldfield Enters Britain In Bloom

Hall's Garden Centre has always maintained close links with the local community and we are enthusiastically supporting Sutton Coldfield's entry into this year's Britain in Bloom competition.

This is the first time Sutton Coldfield has entered Britain in Bloom, local MP Andrew Mitchell called it a 'brilliant initiative' and council leader Ian Ward thinks that it will provide 'a great opportunity to promote the town at a regional and national level'.

New Agapanthus 'Stephanie's Beauty' Launch

It was a trip to East Africa that initially sparked our partner David Hall's interest in the agapanthus, and twenty eight years later his enthusiasm for these beautiful 'Lilies of the Nile' culminated in his wife bursting into tears of joy.

Since that inspirational visit in 1990, David has grown over 20 varieties of this perennial which decorate your garden with superb blue, white and pink flowers throughout the summer and into early autumn.
